Terms of Service
Last updated: March 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Inbox API (the "Service"), operated by CloudWorks, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, you may not use the Service. These terms apply to all users, including API consumers, developers, and organisations.
2. Description of Service
Inbox API is an email API platform that allows you to connect email accounts (Gmail, Outlook, IMAP) and access them programmatically through a REST API, Model Context Protocol (MCP) tools, and a command-line interface (CLI). The Service synchronises email data from your connected accounts and provides a unified interface for reading, sending, searching, and managing email.
3. Account Registration
To use the Service, you must create an account and provide accurate, complete, and current information. You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the accuracy of your account information
- Keeping your credentials, API tokens, and authentication details confidential
- All activity that occurs under your account
- Notifying us immediately of any unauthorised use of your account
Each individual may maintain only one account. Accounts are non-transferable.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Send unsolicited bulk email (spam) or violate anti-spam legislation
- Gain unauthorised access to email accounts or systems you do not own or control
- Scrape, harvest, or collect email addresses or personal data without consent
- Engage in any illegal activity or violate any applicable laws or regulations
- Violate the terms of service of connected email providers (Google, Microsoft, etc.)
- Circumvent or exceed rate limits, or attempt to disrupt the Service
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service
5. API Usage
Access to the API is subject to rate limits, which may vary by plan. You are solely responsible for:
- Safeguarding your API tokens and treating them as confidential credentials
- Revoking compromised tokens immediately upon discovery
- Ensuring that your use of the API complies with these terms and all applicable laws
- Monitoring your API usage to remain within your plan's rate limits
We reserve the right to throttle or suspend API access that negatively impacts the Service or other users.
6. Email Account Connections
By connecting an email account to the Service, you represent and warrant that:
- You own the email account or have explicit authorisation from the owner to connect it
- You have the legal right to access and process the email data contained in the account
- Your use of the connected account complies with the email provider's terms of service
With respect to email data processed through the Service, CloudWorks acts as a data processor on your behalf. You remain the data controller and are responsible for compliance with applicable data protection laws.
7. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its API, MCP tools, CLI, documentation, and all associated intellectual property, is and remains the exclusive property of CloudWorks. Nothing in these terms grants you any right, title, or interest in the Service beyond the limited right to use it in accordance with these terms.
Your data remains your property. We claim no ownership rights over email data, account information, or any content you process through the Service.
8. Service Availability
We endeavour to maintain high availability of the Service but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Specifically:
- The Service is provided on a best-effort basis
- Planned maintenance will be communicated in advance when practicable
- No service level agreement (SLA) is provided for free-tier accounts
- We are not responsible for downtime caused by third-party email providers or infrastructure
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, CloudWorks shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or business opportunities, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service.
CloudWorks is not liable for outages, data loss, or service interruptions caused by third-party email providers, infrastructure failures, or force majeure events. Our total aggregate liability shall not exceed the amount you have paid for the Service in the twelve months preceding the claim.
10. Termination
Either party may terminate this agreement at any time:
- You may terminate by closing your account through the Service or by contacting us
- We may terminate or suspend your account for violation of these terms, with or without notice
- Upon termination, all associated data will be permanently deleted within 30 days
- Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including limitation of liability and governing law) shall continue to apply
11. Governing Law
These Terms of Service shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Portugal. Any disputes arising from or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Lisbon, Portugal.
